What do you think of this breed… No stupid comments, only people who have owned a Rottweiler. Also I wanted to add how does a PROPERLY TRAINED rotty act when going for a walk or being around unknown people ??
yeah cause it was either that or a doberman, but i heard that rotty’s shed alot so iunno.
Well a dog is a dog. yeah they have different attitudes and such but i’m not getting a "smaller dog" just cause its my first dog. Iam not taking it to any training class what a waste of money, i’ll just spend alot of time & effort training it at home, my question wasnt if you took your rottweiler to get trained or not…
My fiancee has a rottweiler and I have lived with him
On walks he does not try to attack cats or people. He loves everything. He is the sweetest dog I know and wouldn’t hurt a fly.
He isn’t really trained either.

I am going to get a pure german rottweiler soon and i was curious in my searchings I see people say they are AKC, ACA, or CKC registered. I dont’ know anything about this. Could someone explain to me if it is necessary to get them registered. Is it illegal not to? Does it matter where they are registered?
You don’t HAVE to register the dog – but they need to be registered in puppyhood or they can’t be and it costs $5 so why not? Usually this is consider proof they are prebred…..
AKC is the biggest & most prestigious registry in the US UKC is another good one.
There are two CKC registires – one is the equvlaent of AKC in canadia- CANADIAN kennel club
However now we come to the other CKC (contential kennel club) and the ACA
AKC (and UKC) have strict standards and anyone caught fudging records can be banned from ever registering a dog again and in addition AKC is now cracking down on conditions in "high volume" breeders. AS a result some of those banned breeders created "registries" of their own(CKC & ACA being two) so they could continue selling "registered" pups – many of them don’t actually care if the pup is the breed claimed. All of them are a red flag that the pup is NOT well breed and possibly is not pure.

I recently acquired a 2 year old 100 lb male rottweiler. How can I introduce him to my cat? So far we’ve been hiding my cat in a room. Please help.
thanks to everyone that answered, but i live in a two bedroom apartment and things are tight. and we had to take the dog because of something that happened so it wasnt planned.
Don’t keep your CAT in the room. Put your rottweiler in the room so that he can get used to the place cuz ur dog is probably nervous and doesn’t want to be in the big house yet. Let the cat and the dog get to know each other slowly the cat will go over to the room with your rottweiler and start smelling under the door and your dog will probably do the same. after about a week u can take ur doggie out and introduce him to ur house and your cat more

I have a 10 year old rottweiler, and she is often eating too fast and then because of this vomiting up her food. How can I get her to slow down and take her time when she eats?
Put a tennis ball in her food. It forces her to slow down and eat around the ball. I have used this trick before with foster greyhounds and it has worked with them.

I just moved into this nice neighborhood, and my neighbor says she is a reputable rottweiler breeder. I’ve seen a couple of her dogs (she said she has
and they look ok.
She offered me a puppy for $300, is this a fair price? Should I buy it?
I dont think she is a BYB because most of those just breed small dogs, like poodles and chihuahuas.
I knew this was going to happen with everybody saying things only about the designer breeds and saying things like all of them are coming from byb’s and saying how can we put a stop to designer breeds and not saying anything about purebreds or large breed dogs that you can get from byb’s. I’m starting to think that people don’t like small mixed breeds. It’s very sad! Any dog, any type can come from a byb. I have a Doberman that i got from a byb. Yep i went to there house met the parents of the puppies… I thought everything was great get the dog home and the next thing you know i spent lots on vet bills. Not that i mind cause i love my dog and i loved him from day one it’s just that i was mad at the breeders. So don’t think for one min. that byb’s don’t breed large breeds or purebreds cause they do. I would defiantly check really hard into them cause $300.00 is a steal. Something has to be wrong. Check in to any breeder before you buy. Sometimes people are tricky so be careful. There are good breeders out there so if you want a Rottweiler find a good breeder. You will pay more, but it’s worth it if that is what you want. Good Luck!
