I was just wondering, what if for example a dog impregnated its’ own mother or sister, will their puppies be abnormal?Because for us humans if we did it with a family member, the baby would be abnormal, right?
Nothing "happens"…w/humans OR other animals.
That granny tale to keep your brother away from you is bogus.
IN-& LINE-breeding is HOW ***ALL*** PUREBRED animals…every species …..were developed & refined.
PLANTS TOO!
PROS know WTF they’re doing….nitwits don’t.

With the recent trouble with Michael Vick and his involvement in dog fighting rings, the subject of animal cruelty is on everyone’s minds as of late. But the great unspoken is how animals such as pigs, cows, ducks, and chickens are treated in your basic food processing plants; from cows’ throats being slashed, to ducks being forcefed with a tube down their throat. If dog fighting is a felony offense, then why do major food processing corporations continue to administer their own brand of animal cruelty? Who decided that dogs have more rights than other animals?
If your response is to point out the fact that animals in food processing plants are for food, and therefore the treatment is acceptable, I then ask you this: If dogs were considered food, would it then be acceptable?
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/07/20/national/main630674.shtml
well I’m sure that if the animals at the food processing plant were treated that why as a form of entertainment it wouldn’t happen. they did this for entertainment not to provide the population with food.
add: if we ate dogs in this country then they way they processed the food would be acceptable. they are not being killed for ENTERTAINMENT, that would be wrong.
as for the other answerer who said Vick is being set upon because he is a celebrity, that’s just absurd. as a celebrity he should know he’s in the spotlight and being in that spotlight was a surety he would get caught. we had a fighting ring broke up where i am a few months ago and there was a big uprising of animal lovers for that, and all those people were, were a bunch of dumb crack heads, dope dealers, and welfare recipients. so you can drop the "he’s a celebrity and that’s why he’s getting in trouble" BS.

My mom’s friend gave us a 2 month old chihuahua and I don’t know what to feed her. We bought her puppy food but she doesn’t eat it and we serve her warm milk and she drinks that, but I feel that she is too skinny and should gain a little more pounds. Does anyone have any suggestion to what I should give her to eat?
omg! noooo please don’t give her anymore cow’s milk. that will make her very very sick
you want to make sure she eats every 2 hours. chihuahua’s have a super quick metabolism and their blood sugar will drop if not properly fed
get some eukaneuba or bill jack food (dry) and soak it in warm water… they can’t chew hard food yet and canned food is unhealthy and crap.
another good food is rachel ray’s "nutrish" dog food for small dogs… either one will be fine but you need to soften it.
if you notice her shaking bad, or just acting lethargic or sleepy, give her some karo corn syrup. it’s good to have some on hand in case you ever need it. please show your mom this message so she can get the proper stuff!

I am getting a puppy on Monday and he is 6 weeks old. The people selling him said that all of their puppies have gotten their first round of shots. How many more "rounds" do they need? And how much will it cost me?
Can somebody tell me around how much the shots will cost? The cost isn’t a huge problem but I just want to know.
call around to get quotes from vets, the prices will vary…. but it is not that much, they need shots every few months for a couple months, depending on what they have already:
you can do google search,
a suggestion is:
6 WEEKS
Examination (for general health)
DHP-PV-CV (1st for distemper parvo/hepatitus/parainfluenza-parvo-carona)
Fecal Flotation (for parasites)
Heartworm Prevention
Flea & Tick Prevention
9 WEEKS
Examination
DHP-PV-CV (2nd)
Fecal Flotation
Heartworm Prevention
Flea & Tick Prevention
12 WEEKS
Examination

Looking for the best puppy formula for Jack Russell Pups, The mother is getting ready to have the puppies and in previous litters she will not let her puppies eat. I am caring for this dog, she is not mine. I have alot of experience with puppies but not feeding the day of birth? Not sure when I should start feeding either

Handrearing pups is AWFUL!!! They *DIE*!!!
You MUST feed every TWO hours, day & NIGHT !!! ***NOT*** bottle feed=TUBE em!!! And make them eliminate & use a ***REAL**** "store-bought" formula(Just Born is better than Esbilac) =NOT some stupid "homemade" CRAP!!! & keep them on a heating pad. WEIGH DAILY!
etc,etc.
Keep the trash can handy to toss the CARCASSES!!! And…..stock up on COFFEE. You can’t go anywhere(or SLEEP) for ***3***weeks!

I’m trying to see if I should get a teacup chihuahua or regular, or are they both the same?
Size. A "teacup" is bred by irresponsible breeders to be undersize for the standard. They are smaller and have more health problems, yet these "breeders" charge MORE for them because they are the fad thing.
The regular size is what is "normal" for the breed. Go to the AKC site and read the breed standard and it will tell you the correct size for the breed.

I have a 7 month old rottweiler puppy who has a very sensitive stomach. She gets diarrhea from any new food, or any kind of treat./ This has been confirmed by the Vet. She isn’t sick w/ anything like parvo. SHe is currently on California Naturals. Is that a good dog food for a sensitive stomach? Or should I gradually switch her to a better dog food, and if so what is better thatn that?
"Purina ONE Sensitive Systems" is what I use for my Old English Sheepdog (they have puppy and adult versions of this product). It cost more that the regular dog food but is much much better for the dog. The main ingredient in it is salmon. I’ve also been told by my vet that any oatmeal based dog food is the best. But the problem is that I can’t find one anywhere.
Don’t use any of the regular type dog food. If you look on the nutrition label, the main ingredient is corn and that’s bad for the dog.
Good luck!

What brush should i use to brush my 8 week old rottweiler puppy? Should i brush it every day and does it help it not to smell? I haven’t actually got him yet but want to be prepared.
he won’t be smelly first of all.
second,, your breeder will give you all the feeding and grooming advice you will need.. please ask them all your questions in advance…
** those grooming "gloves" work wonderfullly on short haired breeds,,

I have a 7 month old boxer and am about to change his food from puppy food to dog food. I’m interested in finding out what the best SUPERMARKET dog food is.
P.S. I said supermarket dog food, not some super organic food that just so happens to be for dogs, created by long haired organic hippies in california.
THANKS
Dry dog food is the only option.
There is no good dog food at the supermarket. Therefore a best can’t be recommended to you. Essentially if you won’t want to buy the "California Hippie" dog food then you’ll be purchasing a low quality food that is nothing but filler and by-products.
The bests food are Innova, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, so forth. Pretty much if you haven’t heard of it and it costs a little extra then it’s most like good.
I’ve a blog that helps with things like this, check it out for more information:

My dog obey’s me ok at home and at the dog park. That is until we get around other dogs. Once she starts running around with other dogs, she completely ignores me. It’s ok that she runs around with other dogs and they all play well together, but I need to make sure she stays some what close to me and will come when called. Any suggestions on how to get her to obey a "come" command when she’s around other dogs?
a really reliable recall is necessary without distraction before she can be expected to come with distractions. practice with only one other dog at first so that you can go get her if necessary. high value rewards are critical for success. and calling her to come only when you’re ready to leave sends the message that coming means the fun is over. call her over to you several times before actually leaving so she can learn that coming is a good thing and she can still play. always praise when she comes (even if she did not come on her own). and do not call her to come when you can’t enforce the command. see the link for help getting started.
