What is the difference between and Ole English Bulldog dog and just a regular English Bulldog?

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I haven’t heard of "Ole" English Bulldog before so i was just wonder what the difference between them are.

the "olde" english bulldog has more wrinkles… believe it or not, it is actually a newer breed than the regular "bulldog"!

the original bulldogs didn’t have a whole lot of wrinkles, and they weren’t particularly brachiocephalactic (spelling?) they were rather short, stocky dogs, who had large heads and jaws, and were VERY game. the wrinkles and bowed legs were bred into them mostly after they were no longer used for sports like bull baiting.

My dog is gonna have puppies and I want to know what I can do to help. And what would I need?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

I had a dog that had puppies befor but that was along time ago so I really dont know what to do.And im not sure if she will stay still when she is haveing the puppies because she I really hypper. Is there N E thing I will need to do befor she has puppies and during shes haveing puppies?Do I need to buy n e thing.

Just provide her with a comfortable place to do her thing and it is best if you let her do her thing by herself. It provides better bonding between mother and pup. Mother dogs have natural instinct. It’s best not to handle the pups for a few days. And don’t get grossed out when she licks the puppies clean when the first come out.

How to get a dog to get along with other dogs?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

My roomate and I both just got dogs. I got mine, a blue heeler, about a week or two before he got his yellow lab. My blue heeler went after his dog right away but seemed to calm down that night. We went to bed, my dog escaped my makeshift pen and when I woke up they were both hanging out downstairs no problem. They are usually ok with each other but when I bring my dog in from a walk he always goes berzerk. It happens every single time that when he comes in he goes right after the lab. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The first couple times the lab was right at the door and I attributed it to the surprise. The last few though he’s been visible but on the other side of the house.

This may be caused by your dog feeling "his" house is for him only, and coming in from the outside to his domain he does not want to see anyone else there.
When you come in, is the lab waiting at the door?
When you come in, ask your roommate to have the lab somewhere in the house not readily visible from the door you and your heeler are coming in. this way, your dog can come in to a quiet house and not feel threatened.
Another option, if your schedule allows it, have you and your roommate take the dogs for a joint walk, so neither is home when the other one comes in.

Where can i find a chihuahua puppy for sale in the pittsburgh pa area?

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I have looked in the local newspaper with no luck. I have a year old Spayed female chihuahua and she is wonderful and I want another. Please heip me find one in Pittsburgh PA. I donot like to drive far. Thank You .

Whatever you do, DO NOT get them from a pet store!! They get their dogs from Puppymills and it’s just horrible. They get sick and have behavioral issues from improper socialization and being taken from their mothers too soon. They can be harder to potty-train because they’ve always been allowed to go anywhere they want. The conditions in a puppymill are disgusting. Our dog is a puppymill rescue. She was only in one for a year and we’ve had her for 3 years. It was just this last year that she’s gained the confidence to play with another dog and to enjoy being petted.

"DO NOT, under any circumstances, buy a dog in a petstore. Our research establishes that 98% of the dogs in petstores come from what we consider to be puppymllls. You are not saving that puppy, you are sentencing it’s parents to lives of misery."

Look at the sites below for a more humane and local Chihuahua "buying" solution…

Whats the differerence between a golden retriever and a golden retriever shepard mix?

Friday, February 12th, 2010

I am getting a dog soon and I want a golden retriever but there is a dog available but is a golden retriever/shepard mix. whats the difference between a golden retriever and a golden retriever/ shepard mix?

all the answers here are pretty much correct. i have 3 golden retrievers and 2 golden retriever /german shepherd mixed. i assume you are talking about getting one from a shelter?? sometimes they will say it is a mix of shep/golden and they are not. the shelters are like anyone else, they guess at the breeds mixed in these dog. so if you are really wanting a golden i would hold out for the golden. all of my dogs are laid back except one of the mixes,he is very protective of me, so much so that i have to put him in another room if anyone comes to the door. i know that is the shepherd in him. most of the shep/retriever mixes look more shepherds than retrievers.
