I think blocking is appropriate to do if you feel that a particular user is focusing on you specifically and making a regular habit of reporting you. I think it's not hard to figure out who those people might be.

But over all, I think that blocking those who actually have good knowledge and REAL LIFE experiences to share is just plain dumb. The people who choose to do that are the ones who don't really want truthful answers, but just want validation in what they have already made up their mind to do.

I think blocking has a good place here, but it's well over done.

I don't - and won't - block anyone because it reeks of "lalalala I CAN'T HEAR YOU" and I think everyone deserves a chance to put in his/her two cents, like it or not, even those "OMG THAT IS SOOOOOO CUTE" two cents.

It's pointless to block anyone.

I must have been the last to know, but apparently there are several here, who have numerous accounts. So, if you block them on one account; they can still see you, from their other account.

After being here for some time, I can usually determine when a reply, whether or not I agree, comes from experience and knowledge, rather than opinion. Some advice is grounded in fact.

I'm pushing 50 years old and if someone wants to block me, that's fine with me! I'm too old to play that game. It just proves to me that they are not looking for a serious answer.

I'm not here to listen to someone name call - I'm here to help if I can. When I ask a question and someone always comes back with something rude or calling me names, then yes, I will block them. The purpose of this site is not to put each other down - it's to help educate others. If they don't want to take advice and block people, that's their business.

I, too, have been blocked by a few people and I have no idea why. Try not to worry about it. Move on.

ADD:
The thumbs down does not surprise me.

I'm thinking we should be able to give WORST answer as well as a best one, with a deduction of 10 pts..with the option of no worst answer, and that the thumbing should list who gives the ups and downs...as well as reporting, IF the answer is truly innpropriate those people will not be ashamed to have their names listed...right?
